The real story:

http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20050806-00000177-kyodo-int

Tsuburaya Productions lost a lawsuit against a department store chain
in Beijing from using Ultraman for their store (they got the rights
from Chaiyo Productions). Of course, Tsuburaya will continue to take
more legal action against Chaiyo. But I wouldn't be surprised if
Tsuburaya lost because China is still plagued by its recent
anti-Japanese sentiment (which would be REALLY stupid).

But guess what?

That dickwad con-artist Sompote Saengdeungchai tells a completely
different story in the Thai media! He claims that he's making a new
Ultraman movie in China! This is similar to the bogus NATION article
from last year (the one that lied that Chaiyo won all of the rights to
Ultraman, and that Tsuburaya was almost bankrupt)!

http://www.nationmultimedia.com/search/page.arcview.php?clid=6&id=116181&usrsess=

Does Sompote even realize that he doesn't even have any production
rights!? (The court in Japan clearly stated that only Tsuburaya
Productions can produce new Ultraman shows and movies.) Is he crazy!?!
Does he want to end up losing his remaining Ultraman rights (overseas
merchandising rights for ULTRA Q through ULTRAMAN TAROU and JUMBORG
ACE)!?! Is Sompote BEGGING FOR TSUBURAYA TO PWN HIS ASS IN COURT!?!

I hope the Thai people see him for the lying con-artist that he is.
They deserve better.

Sompote's ass-backwards methods are just shockingly Darwinian. If he
keeps this up, Tsuburaya will most certainly win the next court appeal!

Good! :D

I hoping if Chaiyo Productions has oversea rights they might release
1st ultraman show on dvd in states.
Once and for all, Chaiyo only has overseas *MERCHANDISING* rights for
the first 6 shows (ULTRA Q through ULTRAMAN TARO) and JUMBORG ACE, and
broadcasting/home video rights to said shows in Thailand. THAT'S IT!!!
Tsuburaya still has all the other rights to all of the shows,
especially overseas home video/broadcasting rights (especially in the
US). And even IF Tsuburaya could still license the shows here, Chaiyo
(who claims to have ALL rights to Ultraman overseas, which they DON'T,
according to the recent court rulings) could try to throw a monkey
wrench in the works by suing the US distributor (who could back out as
a result). This is what Tsuburaya is trying to stop once and for all
by appealing against Chaiyo for the remaining rights, and hopefully,
that may happen again soon . . .

So the sooner Chaiyo shrivels up and dies, the better it will be for
the rest of us. *All* of us.
